TJCE was established in February 2020 by its Director, Tim Cawood who has over 20 years experience in the industry. Tim is a Chartered Engineer, Specialist in Land Condition (SiLC) and CL:AIRE Qualified Person.
We pride ourselves on providing advice that is in the best interest of our clients. We will never recommend work we don’t think you need or won't add value to your project.
Based in the Midlands, we provide services throughout England and Wales.

We Offer a Range of Services
DESK STUDY
Also known as a Phase 1 or Preliminary Risk Assessment (PRA), the Desk Study is the starting point in the assessment of any site. It includes review of historic maps, environmental data, geological maps and usually a site walkover.
GROUND INVESTIGATION
Physical investigation of ground conditions is often needed to allow samples to be taken and to undertake in-situ testing. We design cost effective ground investigations tailored to specific project needs.
DETAILED QUANTITIVE RISK ASSESSMENT (DQRA)
Put simply, DQRA involves site specific modelling of risks from contamination or ground gases. It is an essential tool in the overall process of assessing brownfield sites. In many cases, DQRA will reduce the scope of remediation required.
REMEDIATION STRATEGIES AND OPTIONS APPRAISAL
Planning conditions relating to land condition often require a Remediation Strategy or Remediation Method Statement. These set out how the risks from contaminated land are to be addressed.
VALIDATION REPORTS
Validation (or Verification) reporting is required to demonstrate that remediation works have been undertaken in accordance with the agreed strategy. It is also needed to close out CL:AIRE DoWCoP MMPs on completion of the works.
MATERIALS MANAGEMENT PLANS (MMP)
We can provide Qualified Person (QP) services to declare MMPs produced under the Definition of Waste Code of Practice (DoWCoP) administered by CL:AIRE. Alternatively we can write MMPs on our Clients behalf for sign off by a 3rd party QP.
GEOTECHNICAL
From foundation assessments for small 2/3 plot projects to foundation zoning plans and earthworks designs for 100+ house developments we can help solve your ground engineering problems.
PRINCIPAL DESIGNER
We can undertake the role of Principal Designer under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM). We can do this as a standalone service or in addition to other works.
